Primary 7 Pupils give their views on Remote Learning

In the following blogs Primary 7 pupils give us an insight on how they felt about remotely working from home. It may have felt like an adventure at the start but for some it became wearisome. While some found it just as easy to work from home others found it harder to work from home without their teachers support. Nearly all missed being with their friends.

BENAS HOME LEARNING

I enjoyed home learning more than being inside school but I also like to be in school so I could see my friends. I didn’t like the fact you couldn’t see your friends, on some of the work it would be better to be with the teacher. I learned better in school but I still learned quite well at home. My daily routine was very good I would wake up go downstairs and make breakfast then do my work when I finish I have all day ahead of me. I missed my friends a lot. I really liked the numeracy and world around us tasks.

MY STORY OF BEING HOMESCHOOLED BY ELLA

I kind of liked being home schooled for the first time because I like doing my work but chilling at the same time. It’s fun at school as well, I just find math a bit hard. I like art, I find it the most interesting. I like drawing pictures that look like 3D images or illusions. I like learning about nature as well, I love nature. I tell my friends and family ‘We want more nature, less money and selfish people.’ I would love to be an animal rescuer one day. I love creating cool things with the planet to help it. Life can be so much better if people cared for the planet, But no. They don’t really want to. Anyway, I like home learning because after my work I can go outside to the nature once I’ve learnt more about it. I don’t really like math, but nature and art is really what I’m into. I like nature because it is so colourful. Rainbows, Flowers, Grass, Trees, Animals, Leaves and loads more. Art is colourful as well, it is a pop of colour and I love drawing Nyan cats as well. A Nyan cat is a grey cat with a pop tart body and leaving a rainbow trail behind it. I wonder if there actually is Nyan cats and Tac Nayns up in space. Nyan animals. I am happy to be back in school.

My Remote Learning Experience By Phoebe

I had mixed feelings about home learning, at some points I liked it and at some points I just wanted to throw everything away you know. I didn’t like having to put up with my brother because I would ask him to do something and he would just say “go away”. I would honestly say the same thing but anyway. Although my Mum was in the house she was always sleeping because she had been working night shifts since she’s a nurse. All I did was talk to my friends in my free time and draw.

My Home Learning Horrors by Thibault

It has been annoying working from home because it’s difficult to follow instructions when you don’t have your teacher in front of you. It’s hard to learn something new on Google classroom. I have enjoyed being able to work with my pets in the room with me. I can’t wait to go back to school and my mum can’t wait either! I wish I could go to school in my own clothes. Maybe our teacher will let us for the party she promised us when we go back to school!

Remote learning

Although I have missed my friends home-schooling hasn’t been all bad. I enjoyed the many crafts and research topics and I particularly enjoyed ‘Teach me something new’. I’ve enjoyed spending time with my family playing board games, baking, watching movies etc. The most important thing about home-schooling is having a good routine – breakfast at 8am, starting school every day at 8.30am. I always start with spelling activity and mental math followed by break at 10am. At 12 it is lunchtime and we try to go outdoors or play a game. Sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed, but my mum keeps me calm – reminding me I am not alone in this.

My Remote Learning Experience By Filip

It’s been nearly three months, I have been homeschooling for the second time since covid-19 appeared. I thought it would be fun learning from home because I could spend more time with my family and I wouldn’t have to wake up as early as I would if school were open. After a couple of days I realised that it was harder than I thought. I wasn’t really motivated because I couldn’t listen to the teacher explaining things I didn’t really understand. I also miss my friends from school, going outside and playing football with them.

Remote learning

Home learning is not that bad. I have enjoyed doing all the arts and crafts activities and also sleeping and doing homework in bed. I also enjoy doing some of the literacy and numeracy activities. One thing I hate about home learning is that if you’re stuck on something you can’t ask your teacher for help, and your parents also might not know how to help you. I think that it is better to go to school than home learning because I feel like you can learn more things in school than at home. I am excited going back to school because I get to see my friends and teachers and go on school trips. I am not excited to wear my uniform, it is really itchy and uncomfortable. When I get back to school the first thing I’ll do is go to my friends and talk to them.

I like sleeping in, having a chilled routine and schedule, how I can do work in my bed, and no uniform but I HATE DOING IT AT HOME!! I have literally no motivation and its overwhelming seeing so many assignments, we aren’t learning much, just going over stuff we did. It’s not easy for my mum either, doing work with my sister as she can’t concentrate easily. My daily routine isn’t great, and I’m excited to go back to school and do normal things! I have missed not seeing my friends and doing normal stuff. I have really liked interactive tasks like art but not worksheets that are upside down and I can’t see them!

Remote learning has been okay so far and I haven’t been having much trouble with the situation.

Some things I have enjoyed about remote learning is that every day, I don’t need to shower and have myself dressed up in my uniform before going to school- something that I hated.

Another thing that I enjoyed about learning from home was that I can play music while doing my work.

In all honesty, I think learning from school was easier than learning from home because I had actually found it less troublesome for me to ask for help whenever I was around my classmates and teacher.

My Remote Learning Experience By Kamile

My remote learning experience, it wasn’t extremely fun but it also wasn’t too boring, some days it was fun and exciting and others it could be not as fun and harder, like maybe I just can’t concentrate or it is just harder work. I will miss being able to take longer on doing my work or listening to podcasts while doing my work which really helps me concentrate. I didn’t like not being able to see my friends every day, but I enjoyed being able to sleep in a few more minutes and waking up and putting on comfy clothes and have a cup of tea in the mornings.

I prefer to work from home, you get to take long breaks, drink tea and be wrapped around in your blanket all day. The down side is you miss all of your friends and it can get very boring. I think I work better at school because I can concentrate more there. I do not think that my parents should change jobs and become teachers because they cannot speak English very well. My daily routine at home is finally getting up, getting dressed, have breakfast and go to work. I feel happy going back to school as it was getting very irritating.

My lockdown Experience by William

I haven’t really enjoyed home learning that much. I liked staying home and doing work instead of going to school. I think I do better at my house because it’s peaceful and quiet. I do not think my parents should quit their jobs to become teachers. I didn’t really have a daily routine at my house. I am felling sad that I’m going back to school I wish I could stay home and work. I’m not looking forward to wearing my uniform again. I haven’t really missed anything about school. I liked the Spanish tasks the most.
