Year 7 – Lucy

4th May

This week I’ve been feeling sort of excited and nervous, I’m getting the test results for my transfer and I don’t know if I did well enough to get in. I don’t really want to leave my primary school but at the same time is seems fun to move on. I won’t know anyone in my new school except from my two older cousins, and I’ll in the smallest class in the school, it will be like P1 all over again! But I’m lucky I did my transfer around the end of last year and my friends are only getting ready for theirs now. I still have the end of year trip, the final assembly and my residential trip to look forward to though. But I don’t really want to leave my little school, I’ll probably never see my class again.

11th May

Monday
Today it was my little sisters birthday, and because we were off school we went to the cinema with some of her friends.  When we came home we were all outside on our trampoline because we got a bit of good weather. I hope the weather stays good.  I now know that my transfer score should be high enough to get in to the school I picked so we just have to wait for the acceptance letters which should be here any day. Fingers crossed!!

Tuesday
Today we walked to church for 3rd time this and last week. We are all getting ready for our conformation which is tomorrow, I’m really excited I got a new dress and shoes. The worst thing about my conformation is that it’s at 6pm on a school night so there’s not much time to celebrate after the service.  I think we are just going to a hotel for dinner with my granny and granda.

Wednesday
I had a really good day today.  We got out of school at one so we could get ready for our confirmation.  It was really fun, everyone was there and I didn’t make one mistake! Even bringing up the gifts, but I’m so glad I don’t have to do it again. After the mass my mum, dad, granny, granda and sisters went out to the segoe hotel for dinner and we got some photographs too. The teachers and classroom assistants from the other school who we making it with were sitting at the table next to us. I got a card from my granny with money and she’s still buying me the guitar I’ve been looking!

Thursday
Today wasn’t too good! Well two more confirmation cards came in the post with money and a bible butI got kicked off my job in school for something I didn’t do! You see at break time and lunch me and my 4 friends go outside, earlier than every one else to take out the toys out of a big container for the kids to play with. My friend was still eating her dinner so all the rest of us went on without her. When we opened the container where the toys were, one of my friends was locked in by the others. They clearly thought that this was a joke but my other friend and I knew that she was terrified in there. I opened it and her face was really red, she started crying and ran up to the dinner hall. Of course the next minute she came back down and said to them, “The teacher wants you right now” and she said to me “I didn’t tell on you because I know you didn’t do anything” and she ran back up. But nothing good can last, a few minutes later I was called up to say what I saw, I told the truth but they still took all of our jobs away even the person that the door was closed on. I wasn’t happy at all, I was standing beside the friend that got put in and we were both crying because we really liked doing that job and we had just got replaced by two other people.  I walked over to the pitch and when I turned to go back a teacher was talking to her and put her back on toy duty.  What about me?? So unfair

Friday
Today was really fun.  Everyone had to bring in their confirmation outfits for photos , but no one actually got to wear there’s accept my friend and I because we had to help out at the coffee morning. It was to raise money for “sound friends” and there were loads of children there who have problems hearing and wore hearing aids. Poor wee things. At lunch we had to sit in the assembly hall in the chairs that were for the adults. After lunch we went swimming, I’m one of the stronger swimmers so swimming isn’t hard for me, but most of the others struggle a lot. When we walked back school we had choir practice. The teacher who does choir with us is my next door neighbour, but I have to call her miss in school not Julie. Everyone had to sing by them selves in front of everyone else, even my younger sister who’s really shy in school but really fun at home. We were learning harmony and it was sort of fun.


Saturday
Today the weather was sort of good so my friend and I spent most of the day painting the garden fence and jumping on the trampoline.  When it got colder we went up to her house and had dinner and watched Britain’s got talent. Then my friend came to my house for a sleepover.

Sunday
When we woke up we went downstairs and played the computers for a while, got breakfast, got dressed and then we went to Lisburn pool.  It was so fun and we went on all the slides but when we came out we were so hungry! But mum made a big roast dinner with dessert to fill us up.

17th May

Monday
Today, in school, I got put back on my job to do the toy store.  I don’t know why but I’m so relieved that I’m back on. I feel bad because my other friend didn’t get put back on, but she still stays with us anyway.  Today we had our first test.  This week it’s literacy, and I’m not very good at spelling, so literacy isn’t really my thing.

Tuesday
We had our math tests today.  I finished before everyone else so I got to go down to help the P.1s. The rest of the day was very relaxed we played on the school iPads and before we knew it it was time to go home, well to granny’s home.  When we got home I played with my 3 friends, we made a music video. Afterwards we went round the houses asking people to sponsor one of them for a walk to do with the school. We made these reverse videos and they were so cool, I had a really good day.

Wednesday
Today we started our CAT tests yes STARTED! They are some kind of ability test that has 55 pages in it and there not easy. When I came home from my grannies house we were so relaxed so I sat up and watched a movie.

Thursday
Today we had to get our photos taken, we brought in our confirmation outfits, our uniform, and clothes that we just like to wear. I got a single photo in my school uniform and then we had to finish our tests. They got harder and harder and they were so long. We had to go up again to get confirmation photos and photos for our leaver pack. It was fun and we got sweets after. When we came back to class there was still one last section of the test. When I finished I was so relieved. My mum was at a meeting about our residential trip to Manchester next Tuesday I actually forgot to tell her about it but our secretary phoned her. I can’t wait until the trip!! Only 6 days left!!!

Friday
Today in swimming my goggles broke but I realised when i was swimming without them it’s better because you can see everything much clearer. When we were getting changed four girls were fighting over who got changed first, because first second and third people changed get sweets. But rushing means not drying properly so I don’t really like to do it,even if I do sometimes…

Saturday
Today I went to my two cousins communion party, our dog Bonnie wasn’t allowed to come because there were too many people. It was weird because normally we bring her everywhere. There were two bouncy castles which were really fun we kept putting them down and then back up. They also have a trampoline like us so my cousin and I had a fantastic time!! To make it all a better experience my uncle loves to bake cakes and other delicious desserts so we definitely weren’t hungry after.

Sunday
It was so relaxed today. When we woke up my dad went out and bought us all a fry. After we watched an old video of my mum and dad in Florida on their honeymoon.  They went to Disney land and Universal Studios the video was so cool. We watched a movie and just chilled all day after a busy weekend. Only 2 more sleeps to go before the school trip to Manchester… Roll on!
